Lincoln Co NC Ct Rec Apr 1782. 1782: Rutherford Co 1782 Tax List does not contain THOMAS ROBINSON's name. There has been speculation about why a number of Rutherford Co tax payers didn't show up on this list. The common thought is that those not listed were Tories and under incitement for land confiscation. 1782 January: THOMAS ROBINSON summoned for Jury duty in Lincoln Co. 1782 July: THOMAS ROBINSON and many others brought up on charges as being a Tory. A Rutherford Co Grand Jury says "the following people, all late of Rutherford Co, planters, aided & joined" the army of Major Fergerson and are convicted as Tories "a true bill." The same month a "presentment to confiscate property of Tories" again includes THOMAS ROBINSON name. I'm not sure what this is indictment is for. The battle of Kings Mountain, where Ferguson was the British commander, was fought on 7 Oct 1780. Whether this means THOMAS ROBINSON was a participate of this battle or just aided Ferguson with supplies is unknown. 1783 March: THOMAS ROBINSON sells land on BS side of Puzzle Crk for L55 to Graves Eves. This is probably the 1773 LG. 1783 October: THOMAS ROBINSON listed adj in LG to Christopher Walbert on Wards Crk, Rutherford Co. 1784 January: THOMAS ROBINSON receives a certificate from the Rutherford Co Clerk of Court that says THOMAS ROBINSON is intitled by law to all the privileges of a citizen for the purpose of recovering certain Negroes and other property in the State of Virginia.
