Mt Hickory Primitive Baptist Church
Mount Hickory Primitive Baptist Church was constituted in 1834 at Rock Fence, Chambers Co, AL. In 1847 the location of the church was moved 1.5 miles west and has remained there since. The old cemetery remained at Rock Fence after the move, however in 1855 a new cemetery across the road from the new church was established with the grave of Elizabeth Whatley Carlisle being the first.

There is a story told of why the new cemetery was moved to where it is today. The story goes like this. Elizabeth Whatley Carlisle lived on a creek called Carlisle Creek not far from where today's Mount Hickory is. The Church is just past where the graveyard is today. It was said Mrs. Carlisle would walk barefooted from her home on Carlisle Creek to where the graveyard is today. She would sit under a big tree and put on her shoes before she went over to the church. She loved this spot and that is why she was buried there. The tree is long gone but her grave still remains in the spot she loved.

Abel Lewis Robinson is buried in Mount Hickory.
